How long have you been a member at 1020?  3 years

Tell us about your first day walking through the doors at Ten Twenty: Well, I started at Contegra in January 2013 and a few months later Eric Gowin (the CEO) asked if anyone in the office was interested in doing CrossFit.  At the time, my finace, had started going to a box over in St. Louis and I was intrigued so when Eric proposed it to us I was excited to find out more about it.  So I attended the meeting that Catlin held and told us all about what CrossFit was and how it had changed his life.  We started doing WOD's in our back garage space and within a month or so moved next door.

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/had since joining? I have more energy, sleep better, able to be physically active with my daughter, and recently I've changed my diet to a more clean eating and have really started to see results!

What are your individual goals? I would like to compete sometime in the near future (I never thought I would say that!)

Favorite moment at 1020 so far?  Having the confidence to take off my shirt during one of the WOD's.  I know that might sound silly, but it was a great moment for me.  I've struggled with my body image since I had my daughter almost 2 years ago.  And getting back in the box and working as hard as I have, I feel like it has paid off and I had enough courage to take off my shirt during a WOD and not care what other people though.  I've come a long way and am excited to see what the future brings!

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020? They care about each individual and their goals and want the best for everyone that comes in there.  They push you when you don't want to be pushed and don't give up on you.  They believe in you!

Words of advice for someone interested in getting started? Take your time and learn the forms of each movement before trying to hit a huge PR.  Be gentle on yourself, we all started out as beginners.  It takes time to get where you want to be.  Try to look at it as a marathon not a sprint.  And most of all have a BLAST!

Tell us something we don't know about you?  My favorite music to work out to is gansta rap!

Favorite WOD?  Fight Gone Bad

Least Favorite WOD?  Karen
