Words of advice for someone interested in getting started? It gets better!  I couldn't walk for the first month.  I literally thought I was going to fall down the steps, walking out of the building, a couple times.

What are your individual goals? Lower body fat and increase cardio.

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020? You become like family to them.

How long have you been a member at 1020?  1 Month, I was also a member last summer for a few months (had to quit because of medical reasons)

Tell us about your first day walking through the doors at Ten Twenty: The first day I walked in was actually not for a workout, I was with Emily and she was dropping something off for Dana.  I watched the workout that was going on at that time and decided it looked like a really fun and cool way to work out, and I was right!

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/had since joining?  Every time that I complete a WOD I feel like I accomplish something new!  I am getting into better shape, increasing my endurance, and overall feel better.

What are your individual goals? Right now my goals are to increase my core strength and be able to complete a WOD without taking breaks.

How long have you been a member at 1020?  Since the time Ten Twenty first started, I'm an OG!

Tell us about your first day walking through the doors at Ten Twenty: The first day was actually in the warehouse space at the back of our (Contegra) office.  After the warm-up I thought to myself, "that's just the warm-up?!"

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/had since joining?  I feel like I am healthier than I have been in awhile although I still have a long ways to go.  And I've gained several new friends since Ten Twenty has started...."I love you guys!"

What are your individual goals? Continue to attend classes on a more regular basis (insert laughs here) and get my health/body to a place that I'm more comfortable with.  This dad bod has to go!

Favorite moment at 1020 so far?  I don't have a favorite as there's been too many good times to pick just one.

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020? They're a great group of individuals who treat everyone with respect and are always willing to spend extra time with anyone who needs help working on a lift/movement.

Words of advice for someone interested in getting started? Don't let the word "CrossFit" scare you away.  Although it is high intensity workouts, EVERYTHING can be scaled down to fit your comfort level.  The hardest part is actually showing up to class (believe me, I would know).  Once you do that, you'll have nothing but great support from the coaches and our CrossFit family who will help motivate you to get you where you want to be.

Tell us something we don't know about you?  I grew up on a pig farm.  And yes, I know how to drive a tractor ;)

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/had since joining?  I feel so much better all of the time, for the first time in my life I actually enjoy working out.

What are your individual goals? Pull-ups, right now I can almost do 1.  My goal is not to scale any WOD because of pull-ups.  And Tommy Mac, I have a personal vendetta against Tommy Mac.

Favorite moment at 1020 so far?  First time I felt like I kept up with the class for the whole work out.

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020? The coaching staff is awesome!  The 6am crew wouldn't be what it is without Kyle Mason.  It takes a...let's just say special kind of coach to deal with us at 6am.  And of course, I never know what pain really was until I worked out with Omar.

Words of advice for someone interested in getting started? Keep showing up!  The pain goes away, you'll feel better, and you'll improve faster than you imagine.  There are plenty of days I don't want to get out of bed but I'm always glad I did.

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/had since joining?  Since joining I have been able to get my rope climbs which I had never done.  I am able to do a handstand against the wall.  These accomplishments are just the beginning to becoming a better athlete.

What are your individual goals? With CrossFit, I want to get to the elite level and compete.  Everyday in training, I hope to do better.

Favorite moment at 1020 so far?  Favorite moment by far was "Friday Night Lights" for 17.1, I loved seeing everyone supporting each other and seeing each athlete push themselves!

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020? The 1020 coaching people are my favorites!  They have helped me in so many ways.  I love that even when they have a full class, they still take a few seconds to help me out individually.  Also, they show an interest in wanting to see me succeed.

How long have you been a member at 1020?  2 Months

Tell us about your first day walking through the doors at Ten Twenty: I was a little apprehensive.  I've been working out since high school, in the military for four years, and previously did a stint as a personal trainer, but CrossFit always intimidated me.  To me, snatches and cleans looked like an excellent way to end up paralyzed and I'm notoriously uncoordinated.  A few weeks earlier, at a tryout to join another unit, there were several soldiers with CrossFit backgrounds and they out-performed most of the other guys there in almost every event.  This was the kick that made me finally give CrossFit a shot.  If you can't beat them, join them, or at least train like them.  My first session working with Coach Brendan, we went over the basics of a lot of the Olympic lifts.  The nervousness was quickly replaced by a motivation to catch up to the other athletes that were tossing around far more weight than I was.  Five minutes into my first metcon, I knew I wasn't going back to doing the same old workouts I'd been doing for three years.

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/had since joining? I've improved more in two months than I did in years of working out on my own.  I feel stronger and more coordinated.  It's very hard to get into a rut when the workouts vary so much from day to day.

What are your individual goals? Keep improving.  Learn how to kip...and do dubs.

Favorite moment at 1020 so far?  Getting a 5 minute lesson on muscle ups in my second week of WODs and doing my first muscle up after a workout.

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020?  The coaches are the best I've ever worked with and want you to succeed; but they want to be your best friend as well as your coach.  Ten Twenty is a big family.  You don't get that at Planet Fitness.

DISCLAIMER:  Don't challenge Chris H. to make the class listen to Christmas music while you do a 12 days of Christmas workout.  ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE.  BAD DECISION.

Words of advice for someone interested in getting started? JUST DO IT!  Don't be intimidated.  The workouts can be adjusted to anyones' fitness level.  The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and ready to help you.

Tell us something we don't know about you?  I rode a motorcycle on the German Autobahn last summer.

Favorite WOD?  Anything with Cleans or Box Jumps

Least Favorite WOD?  Anything with DUBS...I'm still working on those.

Tell us about your first day walking through the doors at Ten Twenty: I was so nervous.  I had been to other gyms that wouldn't even pay attention to new people, but at 1020 everyone made me feel welcome.  It was a hard workout because the next day I couldn't lift my arms above my head but I was hooked.

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/had since joining? I have seen myself do things I never thought I could; like pull-ups or deadlifting over 200.  I love how much progress I am making.

What are your individual goals? To be able to compete and RX every workout.

Favorite moment at 1020 so far?  Getting a toes to bar was my favorite for some reason.  I did one on accident and freaked out because I figured I couldn't do them.

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020? They are so helpful and encouraging.  I love working with every single coach.  They help me better technique and show me how to push myself to be better.

Words of advice for someone interested in getting started? Don't be afraid to try!  It is scary walking into a new gym, so come in with an open mind.  Also, don't compare yourself to others.  They were once in your shoes.

Tell us something we don't know about you?  I love to hike and travel.  My favorite place I have been so far is Havasu Fall in the Grand Canyon.

Favorite WOD?  Anything with HSPU

What are your individual goals? I just want to continue improving.  There is always something new to work on.  I have enjoyed the process.  Outside of the gym, I want to continue my education, travel and continue enjoying life!

Favorite moment at 1020 so far?  It's hard to pinpoint one moment but I always enjoy times outside of classes when people get together to work on certain skills.  It is fun working on movements outside of class with someone else pushing you.  It is awesome when you finally master that movement or PR.

What do you enjoy  most about the coaching staff at 1020? They want to see you succeed and improve.  All of the coaches are great at giving you the extra push you need.

Words of advice for someone interested in getting started? Just do it.  I was terrified before I started.  I remember working out in a gym trying to prepare myself for CrossFit.  You don't need preparation.  Everything is scalable.  Even if you walk in and it seems intimidating, just remember that we all started there.

Tell us something we don't know about you?  I have a huge family and love it.
